There are many savvy preventative area rug care steps that you can take in the home to help protect your soft pieces around the clock:
- Use area rug pads to secure your rugs in place.
- Use mats at all entranceways for scraping footwear
- Use shoe racks by entrances indoors for footwear
- Use felt protectors under any furniture legs on your rugs
- Keep pet nails trimmed & pet hair brushed regularly to reduce the amount of pet dander on your area rugs

BEST AREA RUG CARE PRACTICES
Maintaining area rugs inside your active home is easier than you may realize! By removing dirt and debris effectively, plus properly treating spills and stains that occur, you can help extend the beauty of your favorite rugs.
Clean spills as soon as possible with clean, dry white cloths. Start blotting the spill with the cloth and warm water, starting from the perimeter and working towards the center of the spill. Repeat this step as needed.
Use a gentle carpet-specific cleaner to spot treat any visible stain, following the manufacturer’s directions closely. If your rug is machine-washable, follow the manufacturer's directions closely. We recommend at least 1 professional rug cleaning annually to remove residual stain.
Vacuum your rugs daily or as frequently as possible to remove dirt, debris, pet dander, and other particles before they become abrasive. Match your rug type with the appropriate model and review your rug manufacturer’s warranty before investing in a robot vacuum. If your rug cannot be vacuumed, take it outside frequently and shake loose as much dirt and debris as you can!
