BEST HARDWOOD CARE PRACTICES

Maintaining hardwood inside your active home is easier than you may realize! By removing dirt and debris effectively, plus properly treating spills and stains that occur, you can help extend the beauty of your wood floors.

It's extremely important to treat spills when they occur as liquid can damage real wood. Clean spills with clean, dry white cloths or paper towels as promptly as you can. Start blotting the spill with the cloth or paper towels, starting from the perimeter and working towards the center of the spill. Repeat this step as needed until all liquid has been absorbed and removed from the surface.

Use a gentle hardwood-specific cleaner to spot treat any visible stain, following the manufacturer’s directions closely. Review your hardwood warranty very carefully before you wet-mop or use a Swiffer WetJet to deep clean your floors. Always ensure a dry wood surface after cleaning stains on your floors.

Sweep your hardwood daily or as frequently as possible with a gentle bristle broom to remove dirt, debris, pet dander, and other particles before they become abrasive. You can also use a vacuum without a beater bar, or a robot vacuum cleaner, to help clean the surface. Always review your hardwood manufacturer’s warranty before investing in a vacuum.
